This weekends shooting assignment was shoes. As it was pouring rain on the weekend we got creative and put our shoes on colourful towels to bring some vibrancy and colour to the photos. For this photo I took a picture from the top of the shoe to show the patterned laces. My goal for this photo was to really bring out the laces. To do this is first white balanced and lens corrected. I then turned the tint up very slightly to +8 to bring out the pinks and reds in the towel. After that I turned the exposure up to +15 and the contrast to +31 to contrast lights and darks. I brought the shadows down to -60 to bring the shadows out inside the shoe. I also turned the whites up to +30 and blacks down to -23 to contrast the laces. Finally, I brought up the vibrance to +29 and saturation up to +14 to bring out the towel colours.
To achieve this final vibrant look I first white balanced and lens corrected. I then turned the tint up to +15. I also turned the exposure down to -10 and contrast up to +25 to make all the shades and colours balance off each other. I then turned my highlights up to +18 and shadows down to -25. I then turned the whites up to +27 to make the base of the shoes and laces stand out. After that, I turned the blacks down to -16 to make the few black details on the shoes stand out. I finally turned the vibrance up to +15 to make the towel colours stand out.
For my third picture I decided to capture the back of the shoes to show the logos on the shoes. I first lens corrected and white balanced the photo.I turned the temp up to +8 and tint up to +24. To balance and contrast the colours I turned up the exposure to +20 and the contrast to +26. I turned the highlights up to +14 this brought out the stitching in the shoes a little bit. I also turned the shadows down to -31 to bring out the shadows in between the shoes. I once again brought up the white to +30 and the blacks down to -20.
